The Isotope Journey

A journey of uninterrupted success…

…Well, not quite. We always knew that Isotope would one day become the business we are lucky enough to have today, working with some fantastic clients, boasting some exceptional team members & continuously working with new & exciting recruiters to navigate their own recruitment startup journeys. But like all businesses, the journey was never straight forward. Trust us.

Fun Fun Fun!

3 fun facts about Isotope

From how a 16 year old, chemistry GCSEs & a kitchen table influenced the origins of our company name; to why sunlight became an employee perk in the first offices of Isotope; to how the famous Isotope yellow became yellow (& no it’s not because of our unhealthy love of Coldplay). Before you delve deep into other areas of our offering, why not explore some of the funny old facts that you might not know about Isotope.

Isotope, what’s in a name?

Did you know we have our Founders brother to thank for the name Isotope? Maxs’ (then) 16-year-old brother was busy revising for his chemistry GCSE when Max was scratching his head trying to come up with a name that encapsulated what Isotope was all about. Flicking through his brother revision notes, he stumbled across an “Isotope”; an atom that, while it might look like the same element from the outside, is built with a different unique atomic structure. A twisted metaphor that highlights that Isotope are no ignorant of the fact there are other “recruitment startup support” business out there (other “elements” that our clients could explore) but that we, Isotope, are simply made of different stuff.

Windows, who needs them?

Did you know our first ever office space had no windows? Funnily enough it sounds worse than it was but the first “Isotope HQ” was certainly “unique” to say the least. Based on an industrial estate just off the M1, “glamour” was not a term synonymous with the space. We knew, from that moment on that we needed to search for our forever home. Luckily enough in 2022, we found that in Berkhamsted.

And it was all yellow…

Or was it? The identifiable Isotope yellow was nearly never here. A chance logo “curve ball” from our creative team put the cat amongst the pigeons as we were busy developing the logo & colourway we see & love today. Showing that how ever much you think you know, some things are best left to the experts
