& we all know that it is virtually impossible to get ol’ Grandma off the phone once she starts talking about what happened on Strictly over the weekend. So, there is nothing challenging about having a chat, is there? In fact, there is nothing easier than chatting through what you feel passionate about; whether that be football, what’s happening on EastEnders or the exciting prospect of running your own recruitment business. It’s a ‘waltz in the park’ as Grandma would say.
Somewhere else on this website (& probably more than once) we have suggested that you keep it simple. That you don’t worry too much about your next move & that, in cases like this, the best move is just to make the move. No agonising, no anxiety & no fear, just action. Of course, over the many years of Isotope being fortunate enough to talk to so many budding entrepreneurs, we know that it would help if you spent some time gathering your thoughts before picking up the ‘phone. Scribble it down & talk it through with your Mum, Dad or even your Grandma!…
So, let’s assume you do that. Let’s assume you spend the time thinking about what we have suggested & then you decide to pick up the ‘phone & talk with a member of the Isotope team. You talk about your ambitions, your ideas, your fears & your concerns attached to the idea of starting your own recruitment business & Isotope listen, advise & guide you as to the next best steps.
But what does the typical Isotope process look like? If we don’t need colourful PowerPoint Presentations or lengthy Business Plans, what do we expect from “our guys”?
Approach one of the team here at Isotope (typically Max Jones) & have an open, honest & confidential chat – no more than that. No expectation here, just a good conversation about the exciting prospect of starting your own recruitment business. Typically, we will look to understand more about what has brought to this exciting stage in your career & why you want to start your own business. But, honestly, we’re just there to listen, advise & suggest how Isotope might be able to help you. Usually lasting around 45-60 minutes – so be sure you get yourself a coffee before you get started!
Wherever you like. On the sofa, in the kitchen, on the garden swing – wherever is best for you to have a confidential & open chat. Typically people like to commit some “alone” time for the first chat – somewhere quiet as opposed to on the train back from work, perched on a chair in Café Nero at lunchtime or in the office toilets. Our advice? Pick your favourite spot in the house, grab a coffee, shut the door & get chatting!
Anytime is good for Isotope. Weekdays, weeknights, weekends – all very popular & all times of the day that Isotope are very happy to have a chat. We appreciate the need to work around immovable responsibilities & the evitable delayed train which might mean we have to push our 7pm call back a bit. But if we had to tell you what’s worked best in the past, we’d have to say evenings over lunchtimes & weeknights over weekends but, to make it absolutely clear, we have no problem accommodating a keen budding recruitment entrepreneur focused on talking about their new business.
And just to be clear, Isotope will never suggest that you take time away from work or your family based purely on ticking a few boxes on an online form! Isotope believe very strongly that it is wrong to ask a Recruiter to come & spend time with a potential support company, unless that support company had taken the time to get to know you. It’s just too personal a thing to do without making sure each Recruitment Consultant we talk with feels that Isotope is there for them, with nowhere to go & no “brief window” to talk – we’re here for one, two or ten conversations. All you have to do is call.
You’ll get together with one of the Isotope team – usually the individual you had your initial conversation with - & have a detailed conversation. No presentations, no sales pitch & no arbitrary “proof of billings” requests; just an informal, honest & enjoyable conversation delving deeper into both your ideas & objectives for your business & how Isotope might be able to help. You can come alone or with someone, a business partner, spouse or just a caring friend whose opinion you value – anyone that might help to ensure you are making the right decision at the right time. Usually lasting 90 – 120 minutes, the only pre-meeting ‘prep we ask you to do is spend time on our website & watch a few of our cheesy videos (for that we apologise!).
Anywhere really. While you are very welcome to come & join Isotope in our offices in Hertfordshire & have the opportunity to meet other members of the Isotope team at the same time, we appreciate that timing & geography means that sometimes that can be tricky. So if you’d prefer, why not let Isotope suggest a swanky hotel for an over-priced coffee & a chat – in your ‘neck of the woods’ of course. Typically meaning that meetings are conducted ‘out of hours’ which is fine for us. To be honest with you, we don’t tend too get hung up on where we meet – we’re keen to make things easy for you & therefore it that means hopping on a train & having an out of hours chat with you in your back garden, then let’s do it.
I know we mentioned out of hours tends to be more suitable for “our guys” but, honestly, anytime is good for Isotope. Mornings, evenings. Weekdays, weekends. Bank holidays or any other holiday you can think of. While any ‘time’ can come with its own challenges, we typically see weekday evenings being the moments we spend most of our time talking to our Entrepreneurs. Evenings get a little trickier if you’d like to meet a few members of the Isotope team but we appreciate that flexibility is important when ensuring diaries align & people are present.
We’ve used our fair share of space on this website talking about how important working with the right recruiter (as opposed to just a ‘good’ recruiter) really is & therefore we are adamant that Isotope would never seek to support a business with a recruiter whom we have not spent some proper face-to-face time with. This is not a transactional service, this is a relationship based on trust, honesty & empathy & requires way too much genuine rapport to not be bothered to meet.
By this stage, you’ll have had countless conversations with Isotope. As a result, we’ll all know exactly what you need, how much you need & when you need it by. We’ll all know all about your motivations & you’ll know all about ours. We’ll all understand the views of your friends & family & you’ll have heard all the thoughts of the team here at Isotope. This is now our chance to take what we know about you, your ambitions, goals & requirements & present back to you the ‘Contractual Paperwork’ (or as we like to call it, the Collaboration Agreement). Fun, fun, fun!
As much as we would like to pretend otherwise, the Isotope Collaboration Agreement is boring! It’s a document full of unimaginative, tedious & monotonous information that offers little in the way of ‘excitement’. Despite being boring in nature, it’s certainly an important document that is designed to simply offer our motivated clients a safety net during the relationship with Isotope. The agreement is straightforward, transparent & clearly showcases the holistic approach Isotope take to supporting recruitment ventures. So, through the occasional yawn & caffeine boosts please take your time to read through the paperwork carefully (perhaps even a little cynically?) jot down any & every question you have & remember to talk it through with the team here at Isotope.
As we’ve already mentioned throughout this website, the Collaboration Agreement is the beginning of our relationship. This is when all the “could be’s” & “if we did it like this” phrases stop & we make some absolute commitments to you & your business. After as many phone calls, conversations & meetings as you desire, Isotope will now spend the time to create the paperwork for you. From the time we all agree this feels like the right “thing” to do, it would be right to expect it to take 1-2 days for the paperwork to be created, tweaked & changed to reflect the needs of you & your business.
Think of the Isotope Paperwork as the real starting point of this relationship. This short & simple document has been designed by the ‘legal eagles’ to provide our budding Recruitment Entrepreneurs with clear & definite security of what to expect from Isotope. A starting point built upon an impressive service level expectation that “our guys” can trust at all times. But, that is what it must be viewed as – a starting point. Having spent sometime on our website we are sure this will be obvious to you by now but let us make it clear one more time – we are eager to do whatever we need to do to help & assist a recruiter in their business & therefore, while the Success Charge schedule will always stay the same, we hope that our support of a venture will grow & develop as our relationship does too. So, the paperwork? It’s a starting point, a safety net & a springboard for all our relationships
