we knew that every recruiter that would come to Isotope would be armed with a clear, concise & bulletproof plan for their new business. We knew that they would know exactly where they wanted to take the business & when they were going to grow. & we also knew that these recruiters would be experienced enough in running desks & growing teams that starting a business would be a walk in the proverbial park for them.
Of course, this is absolute nonsense. After all, business just doesn’t work like that & as much as we’d love to sit here & suggest that each client Isotope has supported (& will support) had a very very very clear idea of not only what they wanted to do but how they were going to do it on Day 1, I’m afraid that of course, that is not the case.
I guess the honest & humble reality of most start-up recruitment businesses is that no one really knows 100% what they’re going to do. You will have a good idea of what you hope your recruitment business might become & how might you do it, but you’ll also be aware that business is tough & sometimes the best plan isn’t having a hazy 10-year plan but having the awareness that things will change & develop as time passes.
Our role is to understand that reality, appreciate it, & be there throughout the inevitable journey. Throughout our conversations with you we will hope to understand more & more about why you are starting your own business, who you are doing it for & what you hope to achieve. In the hope that, through understanding you, we begin to see similarities in ventures we’ve worked with before & therefore recognize the nature of the practical, pragmatic & professional support you & your business will need from Isotope.
