Success Story

R&A Education

R&A Education may have been founded in 2025 but the idea was first conceived years (& years) before. You see Tommy had often thought about the idea of starting his own agency, which was typical of a recruiter of his pedigree & tenure. Timing, circumstance & simply enjoying the journey of building teams as an employed consultant meant that, for years, he’d put the idea on the back burner. However, after successfully opening up another branch for another employer, he felt the time was now to start his own agency. This is his story.

Looking Back

History

After years working across the banking world, in 2014 Tommy decided to make a career change. To do what? Recruitment, of course, and that’s where his story begins.

What ensued has been a career littered with success across the education market. From humble beginnings working as a consultant within a well known education agency across Essex, to progressing into leadership positions & managing the branches of his employer, slowly but surely Tommy became hooked on this fantastic sector.

It has been during the more recent years that he has thought about the idea of starting his own agency after successfully running desks, managing teams & building branches for other people. It was during a recent period of success with his, then, employer that Isotope & Tommy first started exploring the idea of working together.

Like most conversations around the topic, the conversations started slow and then spanned 18 months before the inception of his own agency – fondly named, R&A Education. During those 18 months, the objective was simple – understand one another, understand the drivers that were pulling Tommy to launch his own agency & understand how the team here at Isotope could help him achieve the goals he had.

During those conversations Tommy was honing his skills – yet again tasked with opening a branch for a new employer, the last 18 months of his employed career were viewed as a comprehensive and real-time test run into what it would feel like to start his own agency. Which is a journey we see so many of our clients undertake and for good reason.

Having made up his mind that he would be launching his own agency, the experience of opening a branch in a new area, with new schools, with a new candidate pool and with a blank database really begged the question – if I can do it here, I can do it anywhere.

He did it there and as of 2025, he’s “doing it” here.

Here being an agency he has started, built & developed from the ground up – R&A Education.

Selfishly I was pleased that Tommy didn’t make the leap to start his own agency in the months following our first few conversations about the idea. Why? Not because
